Dr. Casthoory Viswanathan
Dr. Casthoory Viswanathan


Dr. Viswanathan graduated from the University of Waterloo in 2012 with degrees in both Honours Biomedical Sciences and Doctor of Optometry. She completed an Ocular Disease externship at a Cataract and Laser Eye Institute in Bethesda, Maryland. Here she was involved in the treatment and management of a variety of ocular diseases including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, cataracts, optic neuropathy, and corneal ulcers. She has had the privilege of volunteering in Cameroon, Africa to provide eye care to those who otherwise would not have received it. It was here her interest in ocular health and pediatrics sparked.

Having worn glasses since the age of 9, Dr. Viswanathan discovered early on the positive effect good vision has in enhancing one’s quality of life. She is passionate about helping others and enjoys building lasting relationships with her patients. She has a keen interest in myopia control and ocular nutrition, and actively integrates both into her practice. She is fluent in Tamil.

Dr. Viswanathan is an active member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists, Ontario Association of Optometrists, the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control, and is an affiliate doctor with several of the laser centers in the area.

She enjoys travelling, and her interests include fitness and nutrition.

Dr. Jasjeet Shinger


Dr. Jasjeet Shinger has a Honours Bachelor of Science degree and then went on to complete her Doctorate of Optometry degree with Honours both at the University of Waterloo in 2012. While attaining her Honours Doctorate degree in Optometry, Dr. Shinger worked with a binocular vision and pediatric specialist during her clinical externship which helped her gain a keen interest in helping patients manage binocular vision deficiencies which can affect learning. She also provides vision therapy, which consists of eye exercises to treat conditions such as lazy eye, eye turns, and post-traumatic brain injury/concussion vision syndromes.

Dr. Shinger also completed an ocular disease externship at the Barnet Delaney Perkins Eye Centre in Mesa, Arizona. While working side by side with glaucoma, cataract, and retinal specialists she learned how to diagnose, treat and manage chronic eye conditions such as glaucoma and macular degeneration.

Dr. Shinger is truly devoted to providing excellent patient care. She is fluent in Punjabi/Hindi and has travelled to Romania with an eye care team to provide eye care services to an impoverished region.

Dr. Shinger is an active member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists, Ontario Association of Optometrists, Canadian Optometrists in Vision Therapy & Rehabilitation, College of Optometrists in Vision Development, OEP Clinical Associate, Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association and is an affiliate doctor with several of the laser centers in the area.

She currently enjoys spending her free time travelling and keeping active. She loves working with infants and children and looks forward to helping you and your families keep your eyes healthy.
