A square face is often characterized by a distinct jaw line, broad forehead, and wide chin and cheekbones. Choose frames that are slightly curved (more oval shape), and have more depth horizontal instead of vertical.
An oval face is often characterized by having a forehead that is slightly wider than the chin, and high cheekbones. Choose frames that are diamond or rectangular shaped.
An oblong face is often characterized by having a face that is longer than it is wide. The frame that will complement this face shape is one that will shorten the face. Choose frames that have a low bridge to shorten the nose, so ones that are round, or deep.
A round face is often characterized by having the same width and length. The frame that will complement this face shape is one that will add length to the face. Choose frames that are angular, narrow and are wider than they are deep. Try to avoid round shaped frames.
A heart shaped face is characterized by having a wide forehead, high cheekbones and the face narrows towards the chin. Choose frames that are wider at the bottom, rimless, or light coloured frames. Aviator and butterfly styles also work well.
A base-down triangle face is characterized by having a narrow forehead with full cheeks and a broad chin. Choose frames that are wider at the top, have heavy colour accents, and detail on the top part of the frame. Cat eye shapes also work well to add width to the forehead.
A diamond face is characterized by high, dramatic cheekbones with a narrow eye line and jaw line. Choose frames that are oval, have detailing, distinctive brow lines, rimless or cat-eye shaped.
